How to Respond to a Job Ad in NJ!

Responding to a job ad in New Jersey or NYC may seem simple but it isn’t!!!

From my experience people tend to not include an email message when they apply for a job and just attach their resume and cover letter…..BAD IDEA.

Usually these emails go unread and are automatically deleted. Think of the email message as you 20-30 seconds to impress the hiring recruiter and show him why he should read your resume and cover letter over the other 100s of emails he probably received for that position. Due to the high volume of unemployment in New Jersey and NYC, your email message along with your cover letter has to be unique and short to the point.

Some tips to consider when Responding to a Job ad in NJ or NYC.

  • ALWAYS Include an Email Message when responding to a job post
  • Include an Email Subject regarding the job posting:
      • Example Subject: RE: Full Time Assistant Manager Position for NJStangers, LLC.
  • Make your email message stand out, remember you may only have 10-30 seconds before your email is deleted and goes unread into the Mail Trash folder!
  • Always attached your Resume and Cover Letter
  • Include an Email Signature (Full Name, Contact #, Link to Position Applying For)
  • Also copy your resume and cover letter into the Email Message after your Signature
